These folks are. Meanwhile, the University of Florida has killed its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department, fired all the employees and diverted those funds to a vague recruitment program for additional teaching staff.
Damn! That's outrageous! And stupid. Even if it wasn't morally reprehensible, it would be practically untenable. What happens if a trans person is in an accident and has to show ID?
At one point, I would have assumed a law like that can't last long. These days, sadly, I'm not so sure.
@BrazenlyLiberal @Graci Well, right now, they show a DL that has the incorrect gender marker and get discriminated against because they're instantly outed as trans. By redefining the law that way, until there's precedent set, there's no protection against discrimination and as we know, some of those who work forces, are the same that burn crosses.
Lena, I hate that you have to deal with this bullshit. It's hard to believe this kind of thing still goes on, but we know it does. We know some people cement their power & position by sadistic behavior toward those who are essentially helpless to do anything about it.
@BrazenlyLiberal @Graci Yep. They kick around those weaker than them and bask in the power of it.
They're bullies, through and through.
@BrazenlyLiberal @Graci Good luck recruiting that staff to a place where the state has demonstrated no respect for academic freedom.
What I was referencing is that in TN, the law has been redefined to eliminate trans people from existence by declaring all instances of "sex" to mean "assigned sex at birth." So, we cannot change our IDs anymore (among other things). While DeSantis may have administratively done that in FL, in TN, that's state law -- which is what failed in FL.
