If you have a VPN or are located outside of the USA, this is a cleaned up version of the recording:

@Bix @Eulimnadia @InUnfunky @CanisPundit @JerichoTaskerDeaux @UmbaSaffire When I was a kid, I had an old console tube receiver/amp from my grandfather that looked similar to the photos in that first video. Seeing them immediately brought back that distinctive smell of warm tubes in bakelite. Anybody out there remember?

Hmm. New band name, there.

@CanisPundit @Bix @Eulimnadia @InUnfunky @JerichoTaskerDeaux @UmbaSaffire Rosin core is for lightweights. Acid core will keep you on your toes for the life of your project.

If I could find a nice cheap tube amp, then I would buy it. I use 1980's JBL's & McIntosh amp (solid state, FET's instead of tubes) for my stereo.

If you find something good (equipment-wise) keep me posted. I, too, am looking. Thinking about building some folded horns, and I think that a tube amp would be a good choice for the setup.

I am cheap, I bought my McIntosh amp for $20 from a thrift store. I bought three pairs of very expensive ones in the 80's, JBL's from thrift stores for $10 or $20 that I repaired.

It is a thrill to have audio components that I wanted (but, I could not afford them) in the 1980's for dirt cheap.
Also, speakers are pretty easy to repair.

I love this music too. But not the poor, tinny recordings of much of the music. I know that we have to take what we can get from that era.

hey GM Bix! everyone. Question: You all seem very knowledgeable w this music, instrumentation ... are most of those in Bix's group currently in bands or at some point have been in one?

@UmbaSaffire @Eulimnadia @InUnfunky @CanisPundit @JerichoTaskerDeaux @codeWhisperer

I know bupkis about playing music. I am a fan / collector of pop, jazz & classical.

@codeWhisperer @UmbaSaffire @Eulimnadia @InUnfunky @CanisPundit @JerichoTaskerDeaux

After 30+ years of mainly listening to rock, I added in more jazz, and now I am closer to 50/50 with pop / jazz music.
Variety is the spice of life.
I have everything that Charlie Rich (the last major star on Sun Records) recorded in the 1950's & 60's.
Feel Like Going Home (he recorded this version near the end of his life)

TY. There are too many music types that I love:
1940's Jump Blues
All James Brown
Eno
60's Honky Tonk
Long disco grooves
alt-country
Motörhead
Big Band Jazz, etc.

Teenage Fanclub - Everything Flows BBC Session, think that it is from 1990 Peel Session.
How does a band release a song this good on their 1st album?

“Screaming For Vengeance”? “British Steel”? “Point Of Entry”? 🤣

My fave was when Halford came out and I shamed bigot metal peeps like “What, are you stupid?!” 🙄🤔😅

Majored in music composition. During college and for a few years after, I noodled around in a few bands. Not much 'real' playing since then, but the dream to start a band is still alive. For now it's just a consistent love of music in (almost) all genres. 🙂

Hey TJ —

Started playing guitar at 13, was in my HS jazz band junior year (‘85-‘86, see embarrassing pic below). Played at open mics/jams in Tampa starting around ‘93, which led to a kinda dumb improv impromptu group. Sat in with friends’ avant-pop and ska bands, then zip live since ‘97. I still read and practice everyday that I’m able to. 👍

Bix and U are tired of this and I don’t blame them! 😱🙄😏
