Filled up 67 bags of leaves yesterday. This row is double thick. #autumn #fall #leaves #homeowner
@Toni_Walker the town picks them up in big garbage trucks!
@BipolarArtist
👍
A truck specifically for leaves? So they can be composted?
@Toni_Walker yeah it is a normal garbage truck but one they only put organic stuff in. I believe it is composted yeah.
Cool.
I don't have nearly the amount of leaf debris you have. My solution is to dump them in between the two fences that separate my neighbor and me. I had a 6' chain link fence and they put up a 7' chain link about 10" parallel. It's near impossible to get in there for weed pulling. So I fill it with leaves each autumn.
No more weeds, and now it's a visual barrier to boot. Win-win.
@Toni_Walker @BipolarArtist plus it saves the lives of innumerable little insects...

Exactly! I have more leaves than what can fit between the fences, so they get piled up in a wide swath along the fence. I think it looks lovely. Lots of color. And the birds like to rummage through it, too.
@Toni_Walker @BipolarArtist lots of caterpillars and/or chrysalises in fallen leaves. also larvae of fireflies, spiders, and solitary bees
@redenigma @Toni_Walker I didn’t come across any critters in the leaves. I will always help a solitary bee. But I don’t have the luxury of keeping all my leaves. Just isn’t an option.
@Toni_Walker @redenigma yeah we have far too many leaves not to have some carted away.
@BipolarArtist @Toni_Walker if they go to become compost, that's also a good use
@Toni_Walker that’s a win! I put as much in the woods as I can but we have far too many leaves to fit in the small amount of woods behind our property.
Yeah, it looks like you have a lot of ground to address there. I just have a 1/4 acre in the city limits.
@Toni_Walker we have just over a half acre in a close neighborhood.
@BipolarArtist
😮
Now what? Where do they all go⁉️
