Only a few days left of my Ramadan experiment, which has been fascinating. The first week SUCKED, but after that the body acclimated. Dry eye and low midday energy aside, it's become second-nature now not to eat or drink anything from dawn until dark.
But as seen in most intermittent fasting research, the other interesting part is that I've lost 12 pounds *just* from concentrating caloric intake to one window, & (plentiful) water intake to two.
Our bodies are wizards.
Full stop.

Well done, Frank!
I fast already, but always water fasting (i.e., with water throughout the day). I've done very long ones, but in terms of everyday health I find just skipping a day / day and a half every week is now enough to get the benefits of higher energy.
This experiment was different because during Ramadan you *dry fast* - no water! - from dawn until dusk. But the body acclimates well, and I shockingly didn't even miss all the coffee breaks I used to have!

Not surprising! Human growth hormone surges during fasting (up to a point), so it's very common for movie stars in training to fast for ~19 hours, then work out when HGH is high, and eat after.
Strategic rest, workout, and eating windows can really help for muscle formation, along with some of that muscle *definition* often coveted on the big screen.
So many interesting benefits to the process! Our bodies are wonders when they're not falling apart for no reason. :)
