@divisionbyzero Funny story about water poisoning...back in my early construction days, worked on a crew outside in the summer heat, and I sweat like a horse even in cold weather without doing a lick of work...needless to say by lunch I was soaked, and deeeeeehydrated. I freaked out my foreman by drinking a gallon of ice water in under a minute...he was convinced I was killing myself! Told him how I sweat, and how I was actually just replenishing the lost water in my system 1/2
Almost 54yo Gen Xer here on BP meds; I blame DJT, lol.
Learned the hard way -- well, not too hard cuz I didn't have to go to the ER -- salts/minerals have to be replenished. During the summer (I'm a cook) my end of the line frequently hits 140f, sometimes more. Drinking water, seltzer, etc wasn't cutting it. Had to go to Body Armor, coconut water, even margarita-like rimmers on drinks to replace salts lost.
Heat exhaustion is no fun.
@InUnfunky @divisionbyzero Abso-f**kin-lutely !
@Avidspark I sweat in the same fashion. Given the opportunity to get rid of body heat, my body cranks the sweat response up to 11. Even when I was in peak physical shape in my 20s I sweated a ton. I never tried to drink a gallon in minutes but I did have to work at staying hydrated in the heat.
@divisionbyzero Brother! Yah, I do too, and the only reason I was so parched was that we hadn't been able to take even a breather that entire morning...when the concrete arrives, you pour until it's gone!
@divisionbyzero So he calmed down, saw how soaked I was, and realized the situation was okay...but a helper saw me, and bet he could do that too! We all tried to dissuade him...until he broke out some cash and said "Bet me!" After that, well 3 of us said okay, and put up $50...even gave him the rest of the half hour lunch break to do it...he got about a third of it down in 15 minutes...then spewed like the fountains at Bellagio...it was the funniest $20 I ever made, and it humbled him at last!
