@ChillySnowgirl Thanks! Was a small group, but fun nonetheless. I needed a fun movie night after waking up yesterday morning to a broken HVAC!
@ChillySnowgirl Thanks! And then yesterday I realized that one of the rooms in our basement had standing water... and I've no idea why. It's a carpeted room, too. Holy yuck. If it's not one thing, it's another.
Gonna need more fun movies to pick me up this week. lol.
@Apocryphiliac 👀 Tell me you at least have a shopvac or a carpet cleaner to suck out that water! 😬 If you can get ahold of either one (plus some fans, and run them for at least a couple days) that will help dry up any moisture before mold has a chance to set in. If you happen to get mold anyway, use vinegar in water instead of bleach to wipe walls (bleach will make it come back with a vengeance). 🙂
@ChillySnowgirl I do not have those things. I sopped up some of the water with towels and now I’m using space heaters and fans. Hopefully mold won’t grow, but I am not optimistic bc there is no ventilation in the room and it has already been like this for a few days (I’ve been using it as a storage area and don’t go in there often). Anyway, thank you for the tips. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
@Apocryphiliac No ventilation might work in your favor at this time of year. It'll keep the heat you're pumping in the room there. But if your walls are finished, i'd be prepared to cut off the damaged part of the wall in a few days if they're not dried by then. My mom had a situation in her basement before and even though the water was wiped off right away, mold was growing by the 3rd day with several fans going, but it was summertime so she had muggy weather not helping matters.
@ChillySnowgirl At this point, I'm thinking we are going to need to remodel the whole basement. Kind of funny that on the other side of the wall is the HVAC that needs to be replaced. Anyone want to buy a kidney?
@Apocryphiliac Oh no, that sucks about your HVAC. 😬 I'm glad your day ended in a positive way by having fun with some friends though. 🙂
