I haven't posted about this here, but during the previous administration I came to realize that they weren't tracking the daily statistics of COVID-19 Cases/deaths very well. So I started. I've kept the stats for every day for over two years.
So please believe me, this isn't over - not by a long shot. We are AVERAGING over 50,000 cases a day and 500 deaths in the U.S. and 8 states don't report statistics anymore. Right now, Children's ICUs are FULL.
Mask up and get boosted. Please.
@Animeraider Five shots for me so far, wear my mask everywhere, and encourage everyone else to do the same.
@Animeraider This is so true. In my area, mask wearing is no longer the norm.
@Animeraider
PREACH!!
@Animeraider Lots of us never quit wearing masks. We get our boosters, wear our masks, stay home a lot and haven't been sick from an airborne virus since 2019 when I caught a cold flying back after my mom died.
@Figment_Imagine I still wear a mask and I'm fully boosted, but so many people aren't these days. In makes me crazy that we're not taking this seriously as a whole. I caught it the first time from someone I trusted and the second time from my daughter, who works in retail.
I have a real horror story in my own life when I needed to be hospitalized early in the pandemic for an infection and I couldn't get a bed because of all the COVID patients. Kids are going through that now.
@Animeraider
Yes! My daughter & I just ended three weeks of isolating because we got clobbered by Omicron on Guy Fawkes Day. We always mask, and we have had all the vax & boost, & Evusheld. If not for the vaccinations, I would definitely ended up in the hospital. Omicron does feel like a bad flu, mostly upper respiratory, but it is not the flu. The symptoms may be gone, & we are testing negative, but Omicron has left some sort of cellular disruption in the cells if our brains, & our hearts.

@Animeraider my husband and I are 2 of the thousands with Covid right now. He had to start going in to work 3 days a week & brought it home. Thankful for vaxes & boosters since I’m immunocompromised. Feeling rough but not hospitalized!
@NanaShenanigans @Animeraider I hope you both recover soon and fully. Hang in there. 💛
@NanaShenanigans @Animeraider I am also ever so grateful for the vaccines. Thanks to them, I am having relatively mild symptoms. Hope you and your husband can get well soon!
I got it and did all the vax/boosters. Took off my mask on vacay in PA.
Big mistake.
Paxlovid works great.
@Animeraider Thank you for the update Chris. Sad that it isn’t being taken seriously anymore.
@Animeraider Thank you for recording the actual data. It absolutely isn't over. Add RSV and flu to that and hospitals are overflowing. Hubby recently had an echocardiagram and the person in line in front of him sounded like they were coughing up a lung.
@Animeraider
What are your thoughts of Florida’s death count?
@WatchLover679 Criminal.
How much higher do you think?
@WatchLover679 No idea really. At least 20% higher.
There is a county in Missouri that has had ZERO reported COVID-19 deaths. Not once, not since the Pandemic began.
The County Coroner, an elected official, doesn't believe that COVID-19 is real, so no one has died from it.
@Animeraider
Holy moly !!!
@Animeraider Really appreciate this update. Even in my city in Japan (not a huge city like Tokyo or Osaka) where 99% of people still mask up, distance and work at good air circulation has between 100-600 new cases everyday. I knew I would probably get it sometime but hoped to delay it as much as possible but got it probably when I visited Osaka. One or two of my students get it per week. So, yeah, even when people are taking precautions, you can get it.😥
@ExPatExp88 @Animeraider where are you at in Japan? I lived in Japan for 8 years and taught English in Zentsuji, on Shikoku. it was a lovely place!
@Iceman_Bob @Animeraider I live in Kyushu.
@ExPatExp88 @Animeraider been to Kumamoto. beautiful down there. I'm retired now and live in the Philippines
Shinjuku for me.
@Animeraider @ExPatExp88 remembering the time I got lost in the Shinjuku subway/underground mall complex and spent hours trying too find the way out. that was early in my stay and I didn't speak or read japanese then
@Iceman_Bob @Animeraider Shinjuku Station is an absolute nightmare and I really understand your experience. If you don’t remember the exit number, you’ll be lost for a very long time. And God forbid you leave from the wrong exit!😱 Tokyo is a lot of fun if you’re young, not so much for when you get older.
@Iceman_Bob @Animeraider How do you like being retired there as opposed to the states?
@ExPatExp88 @Animeraider well, I couldn't afford to be retired in the US. anyway, I like it here.
@ExPatExp88 @Animeraider between Japan and the Philippines, there were 20 years in Montana as an academic librarian. loved Montana, but got tired of fighting the cold and the wildfires were getting bad. it's relaxing here. 75° at night, 85-90° day year round and I can go to the beach every day if I want
@Iceman_Bob @Animeraider Sounds absolutely lovely! Am from Southern California so I’m not fond of the cold, generally speaking. And I love the beach. I envy you!
@ExPatExp88 数年前, 俺も日本にいた.
大好きでしたよね.
@Animeraider you’re absolutely correct and thank you.
