@Devlyn_Angel @publickovacs
The right to life websites have sort of glossed over the issue while they were trying to sneak this under the radar, say that life begins at conception means "implantation" But conception has always meant fertilization, and that's certainly how the lawmakers who don't even understand how periods work will interpret it. An IUD does not prevent fertilization unless it includes hormones in addition to the device itself.
@publickovacs @AlphaCentauri but hey, let's forbid sex ed classes so that no one may ever learn how bodies work...
@AlphaCentauri because science doesn't matter anymore. As someone who couldn't take the pill because my system couldn't handle the excess hormones, this is devastating news. The IUD I had was a miracle. I had it for years and it gave me real piece of mind. I'm in shock over everything that will be affected by this decision. @publickovacs
@Devlyn_Angel I am so very sorry. Mad solidarity and much love to you. And rage. All. The. Fucking. Rage.
@AlphaCentauri @Devlyn_Angel the only exception that *may* squeak by is indeed hormonal IUDs. But as you said, we are in a country where about 40% of men do not realize that women don't pee out of our vaginas, so the odds are not great
