Why is it called a "meteoric rise" when meteors only fall?

@0x56 Ok so the answer is because "meteor" comes from ancient Latin for "Lofty"
so because we see objects (and weather for that matter) "up there" we call them meteors.

@0x56 Meteoric meaning like things in the sky - meteorology isn't the study of rocks from space.
: )

@AskTheDevil - I guess. unless you count one specific rock from space

@0x56 I had nothing to do with it. You can't blame me. My meteor isn't even here yet.

@AskTheDevil - πŸ‘€ - aren't you known as the morning star? Aka Venus?

@AskTheDevil - not familiar with that one. I'll have to look it up.

@AskTheDevil - just looked it up. Now I know why it sounded familiar

@0x56 It'll be in one of the apocalypsey parts - Revelation, if I recall correctly. ; )

The "star" that falls and turns the waters bitter during the end times is called Wormwood in the Bible.

@0x56 Don't feel bad. I get called so many things, most of them bad, that I can't keep track of them all either.

@stueytheround @AskTheDevil @0x56

I always thought it was Lord of the Files, I'd sell my soul for a properly indexed organisational structure.

@CrypticMirror @stueytheround @0x56 You don't need to sell your soul. The power to organize was always inside you.

Don't know where you put it, but I'm sure it's there somewhere.

@stueytheround @0x56 That's not actually me! : )

Baal Zebub is just a mean thing they used to call the deity of a people when they'd finished killing that deity's worshippers.

@0x56 And technically, I think Venus is meant to be the light in my lamp or somesuch, not myself.

@Heucuva8 @0x56 Maybe next time. I've decided to switch my vote from "Giant Meteor" to Kamala this time.
