What is the point of them? Do people have trouble keeping their feet on their pedals?
I've occasionally had my feet slip off the pedals in rainy weather. Then I put my feet down on the ground. It would be a lot worse if I couldn't easily remove my foot from the pedal.
@0x56 @DavidSalo Yep, you're not just pushing down on them but also pulling up using your hamstrings. When you train with them your hamstrings hate you at first.
@0x56 I too was a bmx'er and MTB guy and was always scared of them, still am. Riding gravel or road you get so much more power from your pedal stroke. I don't think I'll go full clip in, cages are ok.
I was able to get my foot out in time, the trail edge was just higher than the ground I landed on.
