Reminds me of an incident; some people I knew, who lived in an incredible house right on A1A in Fort Lauderdale and the ocean on the other side, was having a party. While I was there this elderly black lady was coming towards the house, desperately look for a bathroom, thinking their house was a public building. The owner guy runs out with a baseball bat to chase her out of his yard and I couldn't believe it. Fucking Republican asswipe. I left the party immediately afterwards. 🤬

Listened to a small child high pitch scream for over 5 minutes yesterday. They were in laundromat next to my PT clinic.

Why parents let that happen is beyond me.

Not my kids. Now as adults they are horrified too.

@zoidette In a way, I kind of agree. Sort of. Pain is a good teacher in that pain made me not want to do "that thing" anymore. However, dear old dad took it way too far. He was cruel. He's been dead for nearly 20 years, and I'm still pissed off at him.

But a mere swat on the ass would be enough to get their attention. Kids are goddamned hard headed.

The closest I came to getting a caning was the threat; never actually struck. We’ve never hit our kids and I even dropped the threat part. They’re amazing, intelligent, empathetic, contributing members of society.

Hell, I don’t ever hit our *dog*. And he’s as equally well-behaved.

There are other ways to reinforce good behaviour. They take longer, are more complicated, but they’re infinitely better over the long term.
