@jasonpaisley It's not just the GOP. Lawmakers were recently briefed on the threat as assessed by non-partisan security officials. Dems are largely on-board as well. TikTok is a significant threat: data scraping, tracking, surveillance, and controlled misinformation.

@scarlettcb Get a HavaHart living trap. Bait it near the entry to his den. Check it each morning, and when you catch him, toss an old sheet over the trap. Pick it up and take him on a ride out into the countryside. Release him away from properties.

Burying the lead: Of 1200 possible environmental futures, only a few dozen result in a world similar to what we have now. Those all require rapid electrification and huge R&D investment in Carbon Capture & storage technology. Article is gifted... no paywall. <wapo.st/3FfuR5a>

@JohnMaun Sarcasm aside, I am all for the continued research into carbon-free energy sources, and the result is promising, but preliminary. But as a scientist, I feel a responsibility to counter the lulling melodies of the oil industry shills who will point to this as a reason to forego , and other present options to get us carbon-free in the short term. The situation is more grave than most are aware.

@JohnMaun Maybe. But not for decades if at all. We can't wait on what might be an empty promise. We need to mitigate future irreversible damage now, or it won't matter.

This is worth knowing about... cheap, rapid recharge batteries made with aluminum and sulfur electrode with a molten salt electrolyte are on the horizon for home and transport energy storage at 1/6th the production cost of existing batteries. <news.mit.edu/2022/aluminum-sul>

@Over_Drive_Editor The Ford F150 pickup can do 0-60 mph in 3 seconds. Muscle Cars have no raison d'être.

@Jezibaba Switching affiliations makes it almost impossible to primary her without handing the seat to the GOP. Protection against this kind of maneuvering is what ranked-choice voting is perfect for. The AZ statehouse should consider it in advance of 2024.

@TheNewsOwl State lawmakers in AZ need to institute ranked-choice voting. It will be hard to unseat her without it. With it, this becomes a nothingburger move.

@coffeeandhoney Really, the mask was never about saving the wearer. If you walk through a cloud of moist infected vapor, you have about the same chance of catching the virus, masked or not. But a mask is quite effective at reducing transmission by limiting the dispersal of infected exhalation from an infected individual. This means we wear a mask to protect others, and indirectly, ourselves (by reducing community viral load.)

@Coctaanatis Lithium Iron isn't a thing. Typo. There are new higher density battery technologies (Aluminium-Sulfur, for example) on the mid-term horizon, but for now it Li--ion.

As I understand it, the new rules being considered are intended to incentivize an uptake in storage along with solar. That is what I have, but it's expensive, and many folks who would have made the plunge into solar will not do so under these new regs.

@jeffm23 It looks like she is trying to read his notes...

@DrCabralRivera I recommend "Human inference: Strategies and shortcomings of social judgment" By Nisbett and Ross.

@AuntCrabby I am glad for Griner, but that Russia gets away with the snatch-and-grab in order to free legitimate bad actors is disgusting.

@dmcrane Don't forget about those boxes of documents moved from NaraLago to Bedminster on Trump's private jet just before the LIV tournament.
