I miss you @peeppeepcircus 😔 It can't be any fun living in California right now...floods, bomb cyclones, blizzards, mudslides, etc. Hope you're getting enough rest, staying safe, and not getting anymore damage.
I saw the story about all the tractors and trailers evacuating thousands of dairy cows from the flood in Tulare County. Really hit me hard how long it will take them to recover, if at all, from that kind of inundation...
am trying to relax by catching up on some #CAwx #CAweather with Daniel Swain's video.
2023 is incomprehensible to me so far.
He said #CentralValley has seen more severe thunderstorms this season than the High Plains, which is quite remarkable.
and that the Central Valley's #aquifers have already collapsed on themselves, that it's partially irreversible, and cannot absorb the #flood #water.
& this still isn't a #megaflood #ARKStorm scenario.
fwiw the storm coming at me tonight has already weakened. 🤞
and I'm still so grateful to be where I am, a beautiful, natural, wild place with a wonderful rural community that has already weathered through such a violent and unprecedented storm. and i don't know of any "safe" places now that climate change has entered the room, so a good rural community seems essential imo to get through what lies ahead. i feel lucky and grateful, and finally less exhausted by the floods.
but how the weather has changed is indeed shocking & unfamiliar.
@SandHillThicket @peeppeepcircus Now I fear that 200' above sea level won't be enough.
@peeppeepcircus @wyrmeboi I love the movie Oblivion! I think about it a lot.
I'm definitely the mountain cabin type...
same. i was taking mad notes whenever that cabin popped on screen. 🤣 🤣 🤣
@wyrmeboi @SandHillThicket
I felt like the film Oblivion kinda nailed it though. Your choices are:
1) Modern Sky Tower
or
2) Mountain Cabin
WHICH DO YOU CHOOSE
