A star is a like.
When you boost a post it shows up in the "My Friends" column of people who follow you. It doesn't show up again in the firehose.
When you click on the three dots on the bottom right of your post & select "Expand This Status" from the menu, the post will appear in the far right column, along with the replies to it.
Screenshot of my 1st pinned post on my profile. By clicking the 15 beside the ⭐ I can see who liked it.😉 Same for boosts.
