@QueenOfEverything Some people who want to make them fast will use a little wax. Mine would be more polished if I had controlled the texture more while drying...but, first time. Traditionally, it's not done with extra stuff. Just a good balance of clay in the dirt and a long process with a lot of patience.

@thewebrecluse I watched this for the first time recently. For some reason, I always thought it would be making fun of sci-fi fans. When I was watching it I was like, "Nooo...this was made BY fans!" I really enjoyed it.

@QueenOfEverything I'm so happy my first one turned out so well! I've already got a bucket of dirt in the house so I can make more during winter.

@MookyTroubadour While it is hard enough to do some damage, I worked way too hard on the fragile outer shell to waste it on some dumbass. That's what rocks are for. 😄

My dorodango is finished! Made from dirt from my yard, water, and a lot of jokes about rubbing my balls.

Dorodango update: The mudball is as smooth as I can get it. Just minor differences that you have to pay attention and feel for. The cracks are filled in, and I like how it looks like a turtle shell, but I don't know if the lines will stay or blend in as it dries more.

@kayleenmeow Every time I draw an imp, it turns out to be cute and loveable! 😄

Inktober, day 29. For "cold day in Hell", I just had to do it.

@CherNohio It's definitely a way of doing things so that there is no "right" or "wrong" result. You just let yourself experience the creativity without worrying about details.

Inktober, day 28. Sometimes the difference between "art" and "a mess" is presentation.

I just randomly painted sections of the paper. Once it was dry, I went back and outlined where colors change.

Inktober, day 27. I've got a lot of pain today, so this is like notes for a future drawing. It's looking at a portal from a side view, so the portal is a line between two worlds.

Mudball update : It's as round as it's getting. Now I'm sprinkling little bits of dry dirt on and gently rubbing it. The dirt acts as a fine abrasive, and it also gets massaged into any tiny cracks and holes to fill them.

@CinnamonGirlE I felt this big swell of hope and gratitude when we were told!

The town hates the pride flag I put up outside our very queer home. Yeah...we knew that would happen. It's a small town. We get told when somebody hears somebody complain.

A family friend in another town recently told us complaints were happening in a local VFW hall. And one of the vets - I'm guessing by age he's likely a Vietnam vet - quieted everybody.

He simply said, "No, we're not doing that here. We fought for everybody. We didn't choose who to fight for."

@nealfig I don't like the reason it's happening, but it is nice to see an "Animal Farm" reference. That was the first Orwell book I read. It's always "1984" that gets referenced, though.

@99reasons4truth I dated a guy once who, after I brought him to my house to watch a movie, my cat refused to be around me until we broke up. It was a nasty break up, and I found things out later that made me go, "Ohhh...the cat KNEW!"

Also, all of our cats and dogs can tell when I've had a seizure. They try to take care of me for a few hours. Which isn't "bad", but it shows they pick up on things.

My mudball won't be as big as I thought. I'll need to make a bigger core next time if I want a bigger finished ball.

That glass vase is what I'm using to rub it. It's in the plastic bag now and will get another layer in a couple of hours.

@stueytheround And with those fangs? Definitely some mischief happening!

Inktober, day 25. My jack o'lantern is winking at everybody. Must be up to something.
