Hot take: get rid of debates. They're a terrible forum. There isn't enough time to explore and explain policy plans and ideas. Instead it just becomes a shouting match and sound bite contest.

We should make televised townhall style events the standard. That type of forum is a good place for people to directly engage with candidates, and for candidates to thoroughly make their case and communicate their ideas.

@Ryanwritespoems I agree. They were once helpful, but things have changed. They aren't needed. And it bothers me how people think this is a debate one can "win". That's not actually how they work.

@weirdfizz Definitely. The media landscape has changed so much. Algorithms don't value substance. I thought DeSantis and Rubio objectively performed horribly in their debates. So either no one watched them, or debates just don't move the needle anymore.
