Pretty sure I had a relative who was caught up in this. A postman in western Ukraine who allegedly ran a currency exchange business on the side - or at least that's what the NKVD said <- they had quotas to meet in making arrests, so who knows. Kinsman was released into a prisoners' battalion after the Nazis invaded, died defending Moscow.
