I saw the Forrest Gump parody. Pretty good. A better analogy is Being There.
A simple-minded gardener named Chance (Peter Sellers) has spent all his life in the Washington D.C. house of an old man. When the man dies, Chance is put out on the street with no knowledge of the world except what he has learned from television. His babbling is taken for deep wisdom and he becomes advisor to the president. The former Black maid sees him and remarks:
