The people who say "just Google it" generally don't realize how much Google algorithms, influenced by their own past searches (reflecting their biases) will skew the results. What one person gets when they Google a search term can be very different from someone else's results. If you've spent all your time 'researching' conspiracy theories you can indeed expect that when *you* Google a term, you'll get some story involving aliens and vampires. But someone else will get something innocuous.
