@Kinnison I'm torn. On one hand he deserves the same mercy shown Chelsea Manning, and journalists like Gershkovich ought not be charged with espionage. And his "espionage" was much less than 45's which Judge Cannon ensures will never face justice.
OTOH his 2016 election interference was not journalism and clearly done for Putin. Yet he was not charged! Useful idiot? If he's smarter than a stone he belongs in prison.
and ANYONE who wants to have a shred of sympathy for #Assange
Remember, he outed the identities of gay people in Saudi Arabia, mainly to rush having the scoop, but also not doing the due diligence to protect private information.
Homesexuality has a death Penalty in Saudia Arabia
he is not a good person, he is an opportunist and willing mule for Propaganda
@Kinnison Yes, he shows almost none of the professionalism that a real journalist practices or at least strives to. At best he is totally irresponsible regarding his actions. At worst he knew and intended the deaths of those gay Saudis and of US intelligence agents.
(But always with "on the other hand") When Trump disclosed US secrets to Putin, US agents and intelligence assets died. And he has not even been charged (yet). Would love for them both to face real justice.
@walterbays
whole thing was a mess. made worse by Trump, Russia, Ecuador, and Bill Barr giving him cover. Assange was hiding from the consequences of his actions BEYOND leaking classified info
If a reporter thinks leaking classified info is the right thing to do, they do not flee the country but face the consequences. Otherwise you are a propagandist
