@ReneeVoiceBrand @MidnightRider Another reason for the decision, at least for the insurrections on the bench, could be to get plenty of automatic weapons into MAGA hands before Congress again certifies a Biden victory.

@MidnightRider @walterbays When they're met by a well-trained army they'll be cannon fodder. They all love to play soldier but are too damn cowardly to actually BE a soldier.
@ReneeVoiceBrand @MidnightRider I agree. And though there are a few white supremacists in the ranks I think most soldiers and officers are honorable and respect their oaths of duty far more than many of those congressmen and justices.
Some people always come back fearing the Nazis wearing the US uniform will take control and side with the insurrectionists, like in banana republic coups. I think it's to be aware of, not afraid. Because top brass are surely aware and ready.
@walterbays @ReneeVoiceBrand I think the capital police asked for backup. None was dispatched. I have no doubt US forces directed against violence would prevail, but someone would need to deploy them; that's where I think the hypothesis could fail.

From personal experience, I would like to say that it is a bad bet to trust trained soldiers to not follow orders.
