Is your windshield entirely free of paw prints? Do you regularly sleep past sunrise? Do you open and close your door less than 20 times a day? Are there breakable items standing on top of shelves and dressers?
Then you may not have enough cats. What to do? Certainly don't go buy a cat. You don't own cats, quite the converse. Adopting a cat is even somewhat suspect. Rather, try leaving your door open during the day and hope that a cat adopts you.
Happy #caturday
I once got a cat by leaving open my apartment door. We were in the process of moving in. I had thrown some chicken breasts in the oven. I got one out to feed him little pieces to make friends with him. He hooked the big pieces with a claw and carried it off.
He came back nearly every day after that. ๐
@Agatha All but one of my cats came that way. One we even named Doubtful because she came in the manner of The Doubtful Guest by Edward Gorey. Opened the door on that wild winter night, there was nobody there, no one in sight. Then we discovered the cat had snuck in and had no intention of ever going away.
Cats can sense who needs adopting. โค๏ธ

Oh he was one of those two timers! Lol. My daughter had a cat who would disappear for a few days periodically. One day she saw him on a neighbor's porch so she knocked on the door & got the real story. Ha! Aren't they fun?

My favorite story was about a talking bird that vanished only to reappear some years later having learned some Spanish expressions.

Isn't that the story in the movie Rio? My grandkids made me watch Rio & Rio 2. I was glad they did.
My sister's cat disappeared. She found him a year or two later at a neighbor's house. He wasn't in great shape, but she got him home and rehabbed. ๐

Awe, I love happy endings!
The cat came to help me get ready for the tropical storm. I was tying the pool cover down and Fireball thought, that's string, I know what to do with string! So he began to bite it. Seeing that it would give way before he lost interest I quickly tied a twig and leaf dangling from a tree branch away from my tie down. Of course he bounded over to begin leaping and pawing at the dancing leaf. Mission accomplished. How would we ever get things done without cats?
