Negotiating with Prigozhin is like negotiating with my cat. He purrs and I forgive him trying to kill me yesterday if he promises not to kill me today. Same bargain we made yesterday and the day before. Same bargain Prigozhin made with Putin. Same bargain the West made with Russia after invasion of Crimea. Same bargain offered now for a cease fire.

@walterbays Reports out today say Russian intelligence agents threatened the families of those involved in the rebellion and there were only 8500, not 25,000 as Prigo claimed. So, being exposed as not a significant threat and facing threats they cannot immediately and directly address, apparently Prigo felt he had no choice but to back down. Damage was done, however. It's now known that Putin & his henchmen can be threatened and Russia can't defend itself against internal threats.
