WHY DO PPL ON THIS SITE TAKE EVERYTHING SO SERIOUSLY 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

@v_e_n_u_s People who study human communication really throughly think that the pure text we talk to each other makes up maybe 15% of the "bandwidth". Tone of voice, body language, facial expressions, and much more, convey information as well. When we talk online, all of that fall away, and we aren't even that aware of what is missing. I think a lot of online nastiness originates from this.

@v_e_n_u_s Was I being too serious? I have trouble sometimes with reading social cues.

@EntropySloth lol yeah i was kidding in the post lmao its ok <3 have a great day!! and yeah, social cues are hard sometimes, especially online, thats why I used /j, /hj kinda stuff lol

@v_e_n_u_s The irony, though, is delicious.Worth it, as the young people say.

@EntropySloth haha im a young person (minor), doesn't everyone say that?

@v_e_n_u_s It's a silly and blasphemous comic about Jesus getting himself crucified just so he could make a dad joke. "Worth it", he says, that's why I was reminded of it.

@EntropySloth oooh sorry i didnt get it I'm not religious whatsoever

@v_e_n_u_s I apologize for being so direct, but how old are you exactly? I'm 42 (which feels weird in its own way), and I once burned down a Twitter account because I engaged in silly yet salacious banter with people I thought were adults but were actually 14 and thought I was pedophile. So I don't want to cross any boundaries, but I do enjoy getting a bit raunchy sometimes.

@EntropySloth I dont feel comfy revealing my real age, but I am over 15, but still a minor. However, i would rather not have too many full convos with full adults, if that makes any sense. I bet ur like a really nice person and shit, but still yeah kinda weird but tysm for ur concern

@v_e_n_u_s I think I get it. The Internet is full of people who do not have your best interests in mind. I hope you manage to avoid contact with all of those and find some who are on your wavelength!

@v_e_n_u_s PS: Being able to recognize and "enforce" your boundaries is a very valuable skill. I hope you don't need to use it often in your life, but more likely than not you'll find yourself in situations where this skill will be priceless. Listen to your discomfort, the world is full of people who wish they had, and the fallout from that is like an ocean of pain.

Sorry to sound so bleak. but it's been on my mind a lot lately.
