The fewer people who have access to your card number, the better off you are.
Privacy also keeps bad actors (or YOU!) from trying to use the card tied to (say) amazon.com on arnazon.com.

Nope, just saying, if you're looking to scam people there are much less labor-intensive and lower-cost ways to do it.
