Every day that our House adjourns early instead of figuring this crap out, each member should be docked 1/365th of their pay. This is ridiculous. #politics
@tyote Why? It's just procedural. If a person can't get full support of his party, then he doesn't belong in the position. McCarthy is weak & spineless, and cannot keep his gang in order. This can go on for as long as he takes to realized it and withdraw. Meanwhile, they can't start their Hunter Biden dick pic hunt.
@Bubblehead I'm not against the procedure, I'm against adjourning early for the day while we don't have a functioning House. Our tax dollars are being used to pay these people to essentially "get off work early" because they can't agree on a speaker.
Make them stay for a 12 hour shift with an hour lunch break, like many taxpayers get, and then see how long it takes for them to make a deal one way or the other.
Looks like they plan on coming back at 8pm. Wonder how long they'll put up with it tonight.

@tyote By "sorted" you mean elect Quevin? They've made it pretty clear he's not wanted. And none of the others that support him are inclined to vote for Jordan or any of the others they've put forth.
Now if they could get enough of the moderate defectors to jump ship to vote for Jefferies, we'd *really* have some fun!

Absolutely not. McCarthy is a stooge even by modern Republican standards, and his refusal to back down is holding up an entire section of our governmental process.
I'm holding out that Democratic pressure will either lead to defectors for Jeffries or a more amicable nominee from the Repubs, if one even exists at this point. At least more concessions away from their crazier platforms, which would still be somewhat of a win.

That should be the start of the Dems negotiating. Just keep piling on more everytime it's turned down.
