As a veteran myself I think, in my opinion, that it shouldn't be, "Happy Veterans Day". I feel it should be " Remember Veterans on this day". Happy distorts the meaning of the day to where the average civilian who doesn't have a family member/friend who has been a casualty in a war or conflict doesn't comprehend the meaning. Anyways, I hope people just sit for a quiet minute today and are just thankful for the men/women who died so they could carry on being free in every sense of the word.

@tw33k I agree, but I think it's mostly done from a place of good intent. People want to say thank you to veterans even tho it bothers more of the recent ones. People want to acknowledge that someone is willing to commit to their ideals physically. It is because we associate holiday with joy, rather than seriousness and reflection. but this day is for all who've served, and have paid a price. mental health. physical health. missed family events. all of it.
