Made a big pot of pinto beans w/ smoked pork jowls for supper tonight, and waiting on the oven to preheat to put in the cornbread in the cast iron skillet.

Favorite feast. Eaten with chopped raw onion and sweet relish.

@LnzyHou My dad & grandparents would do that when they made beans. I'm not fond of the raw onion taste personally, and neither does my husband, so we go without.

@LnzyHou Ah! Bc Grandma was born in the Smokies before they turned it into the NP, and Grandpa was from NC, and they loved fresh onions with their beans, and dad learned from his folks.
