Japan's plummeting birthrate has led a diaper manufacturer Oji to stop making them for babies at home and instead ramp up production for adults.

The number of births in Japan dropped to a new low in 2023, with more than twice as many deaths as new babies.

The spokesman said Oji will boost production of the sanitary items for adults in the country, anticipating their use mainly in facilities like nursing homes.

’s follow up to his Academy Award®-winning DRIVE MY CAR is a foreboding fable on humanity's mysterious, mystical relationship with nature. As sinister gunshots echo from the forest, both the locals and representatives confront their life choices and the haunting consequences they have.

@thewebrecluse I'm sure many children were harmed by the educational system doing things that way. In one of my first early childhood education classes, I heard this from a gifted preschool teacher: "If a child cannot learn the way you teach, you must teach the way the child learns". This has been my mantra with all kids in every setting, for over 30 years. I'm sorry you had such a dreadful experience.

Kids in my generation grew up with Schoohouse Rock and Math Rock etc and so many of us remember the lessons, math, history etc that were associated with SONGS and ANIMATION and INFORMATION all put together. Most of the stuff I remember from my childhood learning is based on VISUAL and MUSICAL information that went along with those lessons.

EVERYONE
IS
DIFFERENT
AND
LEARNS
DIFFERENTLY.

I learn DIFFERENTLY. I always have but everyone said I was stupid and put me in special classes for kids who learn "SLOWER" than everyone else.

There was never anything wrong with how I LEARN. There was something very wrong with how things were being TAUGHT based on the INCORRECT ASSUMPTION that every child learns in exactly the same way.

The fact that there are NO VISUAL NUMBERS on the screen also is a huge help because sucks balls and the more numbers you tell me, show me, force me to understand ... the LESS LIKELY it will be that I will understand ANYTHING and I will lose the ability to make sense of what you're trying to explain.

The elements are KINGDOM, QUEENS, PRINCESSES, and CATS and those are easy to recall because I have plenty of EXISTING VISUAL MEMORY for those concepts to pull from.

3/

Seeing someone DRAW this in a visual way using only a few letters and NO numbers ... immediately allows this to click and make sense in my brain. If I just simply HEARD it without SEEING it, it would make less sense. But watching her DRAW it WHILE explaining it makes all the difference to how my brain makes connections.

PLUS my aphantasia allows me to pull from existing memory so once I have SEEN something, I can pull it into the visual space I need to RECALL it.

2/

I talk and write a lot about how everyone learns differently ...

@IronButterfly sent me this reel because she knew it would be something I can understand based on my learning style and how my brain works especially since I have and

These aren't new, I've ALWAYS had them even as a child which is why I was always put in special education classes.

This is a VISUAL representation of something numeric that doesn't involve any visual numbers.

I see this from some fellows who are emphatic feminists, too. Some are VERY MUCH for the plight of women, but get extremely defensive if you mention how a system that limits women also limits men.

I raise this as a corollary, because there are many white folk who see racism as merely a matter of "poor BIPOC in need of help". It's okay to talk about! Just not in a way that makes us look "weak" too.

But we *entirely* miss the systemic sickness when we view racism on those terms.

You may not think so now ... but believe me ... TRUTH IS BETTER.

Something I wrote in my diary in 7th grade ...

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚. 𝙄𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮. 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝘼𝙒𝘼𝙍𝙀 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣. The concept that white people are ALSO VICTIMS might be a weird concept for some people to understand. Indoctrination, grooming, programming, and brainwashing are not things that ONLY happen to weak people or minorities.

The mere fact that you DON'T think you are racist but probably spend most of your time perpetuating racism without realizing it ... MEANS you have been indoctrinated, groomed, programmed, and brainwashed ...

It's not hard to understand this stuff. You're just choosing not to.

@thewebrecluse

What a generous framing by Hill. 🔥

In my experience, white feminized people absolutely perceive themselves as having power from proximity and are afraid to give up. We know that allyship would mean leaving a precarious safety - and since the only alternative we see is to be treated as many BIPOC are, there's no room for proactive dreaming about what better society *could* be built from solidarity instead. Defensiveness emerges there: "How dare someone ask me to leave my perch!"

So the basic answer to these questions ... why won't white people just admit they are racist ... is because they don't care that they are ...

It's because they're fine being knowing and willing victims of a system that has brainwashed them and made them believe the lie of white supremacy when they are actually a minority.

It's because they have fear that in admitting they are also victims of oppression and grooming, it means they have to reflect on everything they have done and do.

Admitting that you are also a victim means you can begin a process of HEALING and LEARNING and HELPING OTHERS.

Admitting that you perpetuate harm because you are simply afraid or ignorant means you can begin a process of CHANGING and STOPPING the abuse you are inflicting on others without realizing it.

Why would you NOT want to do these things? Why would you CHOOSE to continue harming others and upholding destructive systems that oppress others?

Because you don't care is usually the answer.

𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙? 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧? 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙮, 𝘼𝙧𝙜𝙪𝙚, 𝘿𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 ... instead of just admitting that you are a victim of a system that we ALL (no matter what race or culture or gender) have been subjugated, changed, and indoctrinated into. You're NOT ALONE in this victimization. You're NOT ALONE in this imprisonment. You're not the only person who is racist or anti-Black or who subconsciously perpetuates harm because of things you've been taught your entire life.

I wonder why white people find it so hard to just admit that they are racist or anti-Black. You can't work on changing something that you aren't willing to admit. Or maybe you just feel like you shouldn't admit something that you were indoctrinated into or groomed into because it's not your fault? But just because something isn't your fault doesn't mean that ignoring it changes your level of personal responsibility regarding how you continuously or subconsciously perpetuate it and cause harm.

Are LEGIT questions that I think many white people (and other non-Black folks) need to ask themselves and be able to answer.

Many cannot or simply won't because the truth is tied to a wound or racism.

She brings up these questions especially in terms of how white people respond to her expressing her lived experience online (I have the same problems here on CoSo sometimes) and how there is this constant need that white people have to try and shut Black people (or any member of the ) up or down when they start expressing their truth.

The fact is these behaviors stem from racism and anti-Blackness though white people are reluctant to simply admit that ...
