I do appreciate that the movie features 3 absolutely powerhouse women .. 4 if you include Millie ... who all felt strongly enough about the message to support it (Millie is a producer) and star in it. The critics as usual missed the point and, also as usual, wrote reviews that basically reflected their own bias about women and their feelings about any subjects regarding their existence.
These are literally women who can choose whatever roles they want and turn down anything they don't feel 100% is worth their time and effort. No one here is worrying about the rent being due ...
But sure ... the audience always knows better ... the customer is always right ... and Damsel is a terrible film about terrible things and it was a waste of money, time, and attention.
Of course it was. You know best.
@thewebrecluse I actually enjoyed Damsel. And I loved the ending. We can imagine the dragon eventually told her her name. I could watch it again.
I expect as much out of the male critics ... but women hate women so it doesn't surprise me that they were some of the harshest critics of the film ... it doesn't surprise me that no matter what ... oppressed people would rather be at each others throats than find a way to understand and uplift one another. #Damsel said it's peace ... and it did a good job in saying it ... and if Robin, Angela, Shohreh, and Millie felt the message was sound then I wonder what's wrong with everyone else ... ?
