The scope and scale of video game layoffs in 2023 are far beyond a typical year.
Unofficial figures estimate 9,000 workers have been affected, and at the heart of it all are corporations that valued growth at all costs — including people.
It doesn’t have to be like this.
In 2013, #Nintendo executives famously took a pay cut after the Wii U’s poor sales to prevent laying off developers.

The Professor mentioned Nintendo in his video about the layoffs at WotC. That anyone involved in getting Baldur's Gate 3 made would be laid off is bonkers. The layoffs are completely unjustifiable.
