Disney has revealed a teaser trailer for a new horror thriller series called Connect made for Disney+ Korea. Legendary Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike directs this series which is adapted from the manga.
In the series a man is kidnapped and one of his eyes is removed by a gang of organ hunters. The eye is then transplanted into the body of a serial killer.
Kim Hye-Jun is in this which means ... HELL F-ING YES.
All 6 episodes of the #KDrama #Connect from legendary director Takashi Miike have dropped and I plan to watch later. This is the first KDrama to be produced by a Japanese director.
“Connect” is a drama based on a #webtoon of the same name that tells the story of a new race with an immortal body known as “Connect.”
When Jung Hae In gets kidnapped by organ hunters and loses one of his eyes, he finds out that it's been transplanted to a serial killer.
@Myana If you've only seen a handful of his work, I'd say yes ... you have missed a lot. In the U.S. remember we only tend to celebrate the violent and shocking media that exists outside of the country. Like ... oh look what kinds of crazy taboo perverted violent stuff the Asians are doing etc ... Miike adapts a lot of work from other sources and he's done kids stuff like the epic live action Ace Attorney movie. He's a director. He directs. You should check out his work. 😆
@thewebrecluse Well, I'm sure that my preferences (horror and yakuza movies) have skewed my impression of him too. 😋
This is probably a hint to me that I need to expand my range a bit.
@Myana 😜 Yes I could say maybe to open up the windows and let in some fresh new air then ❤️
@thewebrecluse Are you familiar with Miike? If its anything like his early project, this series should be interesting
@jackge 😂 Yes. I'm overly familiar with his work as a director and a screenwriter. This work is an adaptation of an existing work which I have also read. It will be similar to anything else Miike has adapted like Ichi which contains content he is interested in. The webtoon is ... a bit sluggish and convoluted so I imagine the story will be too unless Shin Dae-Sung worked on the screenplay which I doubt. We'll see. Most manhwa adaptations are pretty lacking.
@thewebrecluse I had to read your post twice because I've only seen Takashi Miike's very violent films. Seeing him and Disney+ in the same sentence kind of set off a cherry bomb in my under-caffeinated brain. 😜
Turns out I've missed a bunch of his 'heart-warming' works. (I can't even write that without thinking, "Yes but HOW is the heart warmed? Microwave? Slow cooker? Oven roast? This is Miike after all.") Guess he's got a greater range than I realized!
I will check out Connect. Thanks!
