@sanau I feel I'm in the minority in not enjoying the Moffatt era so much. I love Smith as the Doctor, but the writing for most of that run was just bad. Far too much "feels" with not enough thought... Also, Moffatt tended to blow his wad early in a season only to give a "huge reveal" at the end that we already saw coming. Some of his final Capaldi episodes though reminded me how good of a singular episode writer he was. Just not a great showrunner.
@sanau I'm just now finally starting to catch up. Re-watching Spyfall, and I missed everything after due to covid upending the world... I also really loved Capaldi and thought his last season was Moffatt's best series. I think just having The Doctor not be so "tortured" and brooding had a lot to do with my enjoyment of it all.
My fave (of the 2005± era) is Eccelston, so I think that frames a lot of my bias.
@theunabeefer You’re definitely not alone. I loved Moffat’s episodes in the RTD era, but didn’t care for him as showrunner. I enjoyed season 10, though.
Chibnall was better, IMO, but still…something felt lacking, though Jodie’s Doctor (and Graham!) made up for a lot of it.
I was thrilled when they announced RTD is coming back.
