I see a lot of interface complaints... I feel like it should be more spoken that counter.social is basically a Mastodon node (or "instance") and there are many desktop and mobile apps with varying interface styles out there for Mastodon that work with this.
Whalebird and Hyperspace for desktop (I haven't tried them yet) and Tusky for Android (which I use) for example. There are many more out there.

I, for one, am far too familiar with TweetDeck to be turned away by the web interface... But for those that find it overwhelming, there are options out there.

@Kungfupussy This reminds me of the earliest days of Google+ ... People finding like-minded people, and just building a community away from the toxicity of the more popular SM sites.
And that lasted far longer than anyone expected. Only closed due to Google treating their products like Taco Bell does its menu items.

@theunabeefer I totally forgot about google+. I used to be on there quite a bit too.

@Kungfupussy Once the people who thought it was supposed to be Facebook (it was really more like Tumblr) dwindled away, it became a thriving community of folks who were just keen on being chill. I liked it. I hope this thang ends up similar. It's nice to have a place to not argue.

@theunabeefer today has been great. Here's to many more days like this!
