No pretty dry, maple tree, crawling up and around a smallish area on the tree trunk. As if it’s collecting or eating tiny things you can’t see. There is at least two of these little creatures.

Hope the suicidal thing was a dark twisted diabetic joke. Cuz I am T1D fwiw and can appreciate dark humor in such.
That said it appears to be some type of scale insect upon my google search 👀

There's a lot of creatures that look like tree bark and leaves :) I'll try to check around later but I'm still trying to recover from atempting suicide by carb overdose last night. My blood sugar after 8 hrs of sleep and 11 hrs total post eating was over 150 this morning. blech
