"Why doesn't CounterSocial have an 'Edit' button!?"

Two reasons. The first is that an edit button for social media is a bad idea because it can be readily abused in all kinds of ways.

The second is that 'DELETE AND REDRAFT" is better in just about every way, especially in a place like this where likes and boosts aren't particularly important.

: RFJJ, if you didn't already know, is a fucking moron.

Now he's apparently out there saying that AIDS doesn't come from HIV, and he seems ot hav e begun intimating that ADHD doesn't exist, that it's just laziness or scaterbrainedness that can be cured by making its sufferers have no choice but to do stuff. (That'd weed out the fakers, yes, but those with real ADHD would be fucked.)

: The film is currently being reviewed for streaming distribution, and we're waiting to see if anyone makes an offer. Fingers; they are crossed.

Stewart Lee said this about Brexit, but it certainly fits the USA today

"Voting that way is like protesting your hotel room by shitting in the bed, and then realising you’ve now got to sleep in a shitted bed".

^^^^ (cont'd.)

Note: Good Company Man never meant go along with shady,. illegal, unethical, and other such bullshit. The good jobs and coworkers didn't much ever do that shit. Thank goodness, and yeah, I walked out of a handful of jobs because the bosses or coworkers were shitheels.

: I never saw this adaptation, but one of my old bosses, now retired, at an ad agency in Charlotte told me I was like that when I was his Executive Assistant. He was a good dude, and it was a good company, and I was a Good Company Man when I was in those sitches.

: "Heretic" was pretty good. It sank some in the third act, but the cast absolutely crushed it. The directors did bang-up with that picture. It deserves a Rondo, but I know it won't get it.

: Apparently Bluesky's having some big-time infrastructure problems handling all the new user accounts. I've read/heard from a few folks online that the platform picked up 1mn new users since yesterday. That said, some of those I read/heard it from remarked that, as can be expected., there is a small but vocal rebellion of longtime users frustrated that all the no0bs are gonna kill the vibe.

The cycle continues unabated, I see.

Welcome to the only social media platform on the internet that DOES NOT exist to sell everything about you.

2/2: ...into college either by grades or by way of football scholarship. He had outstanding warrants for strongarm robbery, amongst other similar crimes, at the time of his death. The kicker is that, like many of the others who turned into assholes in middle school, he was from one of "the good families".

An old school pal mused way back in college that Boyd's name was a typical criminal name you read/heard in true crime stories/documentaries:

Boyd Lee Rinehardt.

Yikes.

1/2: A few minutes ago I learned whatever happened to a guy I was friends with from 1st through 7th grade but who, like other friends from that period, turned into an asshole when he went from playing in the band to playing football. In 2004, he kidnapped his mother and stepfather, holed up in his house, killed his stepfather, got into a gunfight with a multi-county sheriffs' taskforce, and killed himself rather than go to jail.

Apparently, he'd turned to a life of robbery after not making...

: YouTube and other online platforms being so absolutely, cravenly desperate for content and for users' time is what's driving me to spend less time online. Regular YT videos, plus Shorts, plus Games, plus PPV movies, and all and in such a glaringly desperate layout designed to split attention and run users down rabbit holes is a legit turn-off, just like Facebook. There's a difference between multitasking and being scatterbrained.

: I found an alternative to Goodreads, one that is not owned by Jeff Bezos.

StoryGraph.

I exported all of my Goodreads information/dats over to it and then deleted my Goodreads account.

: from Ep. 1 of "A Ghost Story for Christmas" from 1971

"The Stalls of Barchester Cathedral"

: Weatherfolk say it's going to be a rainy, dreary, cold day hereabouts, and frankly, I think that's dumb. I will have to alter my plans for the day, which I think is also dumb.
