@grayman: It's refreshing for others but only briefly. Just ask the folks on here who blocked me after being cool with me for the first few months and who blocked me because I was the same after six months as I was when I got here. Same goes for the employers who hired me to get their offices organized and loved it that I didn't lie or blow smoke up anyone's butts but who didn't like it when I didn't lie when they wanted me to.
Same goes for lots of weirdos.

@grayman: ...they love weird because there's this cultural thing about desperately not wanting to be "normal" or "average", neither of which there is any such thing. But when they encounter weird for more than a brief stint, they want away from it, at least get it to arm's length. Why? Because it's unfamiliar. It isn't "safe". It bothers them, slightly at first, but then that bother becomes more pronounced.
Again, not villainy necessarily. Just nature.
