: As a former track-and-fielder way back when and one who had three school district records and one state record, most of which held until both the district and the state hit the reset button in 2004, I was a huge-giant fan of Flo Jo, and I am huge-giant fan of currently The Fastest Woman Alive, Sha'Carri Richardson. I miss like hell being able to be fleet of foot, too.

My records were:

100m / 10.57sec. (1985)
High Jump / 6' 6" (1984)
110m Hurdles: / 13.45sec. (1985)

Trivia: The 100m...

: ...hurdles was how I got my first first real leg injuries. In 1985, my knee clipped the last hurdle at practice, and I landed funky, rolled my ankle, and broken my pinky toe on my right foot. (That counts as leg injury.) In 1986, at a different high school in another state because we'd moved, my knee smacked hard, not clipped, the first hurdle, and I cracked my patella.

Ah, nostalgia.

Also, track-and-field is also in fair part why I have crummo ankles and replaced knees.

Follow

: Ouch.

I just remembered the last time I really ran, like as in *ran* ran. It was in 1991. I raced my friend Adam the two blocks from his house down to the college gate and back. I was on foot, and he rode his 10-speed. He was on one sidewalk, and I was on the other. I beat him back to his walkway at the sidewalk by just over 3sec., as per Scott, Matt, Chris, Mike, and Skip.

I really do miss speed.
