: I'd this evening to tell a tankie I know in the UK to pull the reins on his posting about how everyone but Socialists are fascists because they're all fascist-enablers if they're not already fascists. We've known one another for fifteen years, and he didn't used to be a tankie, but Brexit and, of all things, Oct. 7 turned him into one. And he's slowly been upping his "the Jews are the problem and always have been" rhetoric.
Haven't heard back and may never. It's happened before with folks.
@thedisasterautist Oof, that's rough. I hope your friend manages to come back from this. It's hard, but it is possible.
@Nimthiriel: They usually don't. That's my experience over the years. Once that egg hatches, it's curtains for the acquaintanceship, even if they do "recover" (mellow out) after the zeitgeist has moved on from the events. Folks don't like being reminded, even if only by presence, that they went with the mob, ditched their alleged ideal and "deeply held convictions", and all.
He's one of the folks who, after 9/11 and other terror attacks in the West, implored people not to attack, slander,...
@Nimthiriel: ...Muslims who weren't from whatever geographic area the attackers and fellow travelers were. That doesn't seem to apply to Jews for them.
