That looks like what happened to a minivan my sons were in after school when they were in high school. A friend was driving them home, along with a few others. It had been drizzling rain for hours, and a front tire blew out. They fishtailed, hit and embankment, and did a barrel roll, and then the engine began smoldering upon last impact.
Everyone was wearing seatbelts and were shaken but none injured.
I'm glad your niece is OK.
@thedisasterautist Yeah, she turned 18 a few months back. She didn't even allow them to take her to get checked out. I'll bet she's sore tomorrow. 💯
@thedisasterautist She's pretty tough though. She wrestles for her high school. 👍🏻
@LowEndMuse: Way.
My eldest boys were and still are wrestlers, boxers, and ju-jistuers... ju-jitsuists... whatever. Athletes. LOL
@thedisasterautist I was a long time JiuJitsu player, then my body said 'No more for you sir' and I begrudgingly agreed. 😂
@LowEndMuse: I never did the jitsu or karate or such. I got beat up a lot and learned over time how to defend myself. The Dojo of Hard Knocks, if you will. 😄 I played street sports, of course, as one did back in the '70s and '80s. I ran T&F in middle and early high school. Then I got into bodybuilding (before it was cool, in the late '80s). That's how I wound up doing event security and bouncing at many points over the years.
Alas, my body now forbids everything but the weightlifting.
@LowEndMuse: Fortunately I rarely worked shady spots, except for two strip clubs in CLT. Also fortunately I was (and I hope am still) generally a good de-escalator. That said, I've traveled backwards through closed doors, had people land on me, landed on people, collided with parked cars, and gone through the odd window or plate glass door. *That* said, never at shady spots but rather at "respectable joints".
I believe people accustomed to Actual Trouble/Violence tend to look for it less.
@thedisasterautist I only worked shady spots. About all the was here at the time. 💀
