Candidates who don’t offer to take their empty cups back to the kitchen at the end of their interview are unlikely to get a job offer.

It's like every interview situation where someone has what they’re sure is a great way to separate the wheat from the chaff.

@estherschindler: Who has job interviews where they get cups of whatever from a kitchen?

Asking seriously. I've only ever gotten a can of Coke (or other soft drink) or bottled water at job interviews. I always say thanks, and the empties go into the trash or the recycling bin, if either are present. Failing that, they go out with me to my vehicle.

@estherschindler: That said, I was several times declined jobs while in the interview because -- and this is totally for serious -- the interviewers told me I didn't "seem hungry enough". One guy interviewing me for a mail room and forward office manager post said I didn't come across "strong enough" because -- also for serious -- I was wearing a Jerry Garcia tie and not a red one like he was wearing. 😄 🤦‍♂️
