I dunno how this guy "succeeded" at his other posts, but I'm under the sneaky suspicion this egomaniac isn't clean in the least.
There's no way this lame-brain, HR nightmare of an executive got this job on his personality and ethics.

@MikeBarbre: He was hired by Zaslav, who pursued him to get him. My money is Zaslav liked that Licht did comedy and Colbert's comedy news show. Comedy has a way of disarming, and Zaslav is stupid and greedy. And Licht was another useless White Knight with enthusiasm far and away beyond his ability.

@thedisasterautist Well, look how that turned out. If Zaslav was dumb enough to hire a guy with a management rep like that, he needs to be out the door due to his poor choice of company alone.

@MikeBarbre: Zaslav hired Licht because Licht developed Scarborough Country and the Morning Joe into success, and that was well done. He also, after being hired as a veep at CBS reinvigorated their morning show, CBS Good Morning, to the network's first morning ratings leads leader in a long, long time. Then Licht went boom with Stephen Colbert's show. In short, Licht could do light entertainment and talk shows that did news. Zaslav wanted him to nerf CNN down to that *during* everything that...

@MikeBarbre: ...was going on in politics, the media, government itself, internationally, and domestically, and Licht, another idealist who wanted to save the world in one fell swoop, really believed he could do the impossible. Zaslav was looking to save money by stemming CNN's downward $$$ trend and thought "lightening it up" would do it, and Licht wanted to "save journalism and society". And Zaslav micromanaged because he's like that.
