: Why I am not much a fan of "best foot forward" or "fake it 'til you make it" and why I am not a fan of neither causal nor purposeful disingenuity.
Of course, I am well and truly #actuallyautistic, but that doesn't negate anything, though not few certainly do make the effort to make it seem as if it does.
It's also why my circle is smol and why not few do not much fancy their friends, colleagues, peers, etc. being around me.
@thedisasterautist well, I don’t know you all that well but I enjoy your thoughts.
one of my closest friends had Asperger’s. He was awesome. He passed away in December, five years ago and I miss him very much. He would’ve loved Coso.
I trust patterns, too. I’m not autistic but I do have synesthesia which makes me a bit quirky in others’ eyes.
I get along with pure people. I avoid people who act manipulative or disingenuous. So I like that, fwiw
@Museek: Which synesthesia do you have? I have audial-tactile and mirror-touch. Up until I was 38 I thought everyone else did as well. My bestie has the sounds-to-colors.
@Museek: Way!
For me, the niftiest thing is that sounds, textures, smells, etc. al have emotions, personalities, and concepts. Oddly it seems it's one of the easiest to communicate to people, or at least that's what people tend to act like when I try to communicate it to them when the usual (language appropriate) vocabulary they use, if that makes sense. Of course, I know that at least some of them are humoring me, but it's nice of them because I know they try.
@Museek: That makes perfect sense. I'm on-board there.
@thedisasterautist thank goodness lol most people think I’m trippin’ I don’t need drugs… as Dali said.
Anyway, learning to embrace my particular weirdness has been a journey. Lol I’m sure you understand. There are certain benefits and certain drawbacks but it helps me to appreciate differences in others, too. We all have our idiosyncrasies. It was nice to learn it was actually a thing others experienced and that it’s more common than people once thought.
@thedisasterautist that’s cool… I’ve never attributed emotion but I can certainly see how they can take on those qualities. music, especially. I get “visuals” but also FEEL..literally. Warmth, color shape, thickness.. that sort of thing. Usually sounds are background visuals, if that makes sense. Ever Present but not always as clear. I describe it like how a snake sees in two different ways.. poor vision but excellent infrared whereas mine is opposite, good eyesight but usually hazy visuals
