Yesterday at breakfast my wife said "We've been together more than 40 years. Do you think we could ever get back that feeling we had when we were kids and the relationship was new?"
I said "Sure!" After work took her to dinner and a movie then dropped her off at her mom's house.
She spent the rest of the night wondering whether I was marriage material.
Mission accomplished!
@SunAcrossWater But doesn't it actually do all those things, depending on the corpus of training materials?

When watching woodturning videos, it is customary to take a drink every time the presenter says "piece of ash".
Pizza cutter works! Funny how making your own utensils makes the food taste better. 😋
The pizza and cutter are sitting on an end-grain cutting board that I made a couple years back. That was before I bought the lathe. These days I hardly do anything with wood that isn't lathe turned so we'll have to make this one last.
@Brisse I say not dumb, not wrong. Caring about other human beings, maximizing good and love, is, I believe, universal.
Applying that situationally and and developing a calculus for who deserves that and who does not is learned behavior I think we are better off unlearning. The fewer brain cycles spent wishing harm to others, the better.
(I had a very violent childhood so didn't come by this view easily and it may be skewed.)
Did someone say pizza cutter? #hotoffthelathe today is a monster sized pizza cutter from Wood River. I used one of the #scrapwoodchallenge blanks from the previous post to turn a handle. I love the green poplar contrasting with almost black wenge and the white ash. Going to try it out tonight!
Getting tired of cedar pen pix? Yeah, me too. But I do need to keep using scrapwood because I'm getting buried in it. So for today's #scrapwoodchallenge I laminated some blanks to turn handles from. The first is for a pizza cutter and the others might be for screwdriver, kitchen utensils or something else.
#hotoffthelathe today is an Apollo style twist pen. I'm so glad I kept using up the off-cuts from the last bowl because this one has a little detail at the tip that is unique and whimsical yet natural. Can you spot it?
Wife said this antique brass is her favorite trim color with the cedar barrels so far. I agree.
@Luv_PI Thanks! He (or she? I can't tell the difference) pounced on something on the ground next to the junction box a few seconds later, then flew off with what looked like a snake. Sadly, I missed that with the camera but it inspired the caption. We have a large population of hawks here but they rarely sit long enough for photos. Second good shot I've taken in 20 years.
I propose a new rule for pollsters:
Instead of saying things like "52% of voters..." they should be required to say "52% of voters who are so desperate for human contact that they still pick up for unknown callers..."
I have absolutely zero confidence that the population reachable by pollsters is representative of me or anyone I know.
If a birdsite user doxxes someone in a tweet, the site has safe harbor. But when Elmo gives user information to third parties, such as journalists, no safe harbor applies.
As of today, the Privacy Policy dates back to June 2022 and states that user info will only be given to 3rd parties with that user's consent.
I'm monitoring the policy and seeding it into the Wayback machine so anyone with a cause of action has a record of if/when it changes.
@Susan21Marie Ooh, do vegetable and mineral next!
Yearly mandatory training came due at work. The "Information Retention" course has updated guidelines with new restrictions stating that sensitive company information may not be retained at a golf resort or in the garage.
Well, there goes my offsite backup strategy.
#Humor (In case someone believed the bit about the new curriculum content. Feel free to believe the bit about my offline backup strategy.)
@Old_Tyke Filming sequel to Fargo?
@mfa Alright - who's been leaking the internal architecture diagrams again?
@wolpertinger That manages to be both adorable and a bit creepy at the same time. 😀 😱
I make stuff with code and with wood. Just, you know, not at the same time.
