π Anyone want to buy me a bowl blank? It's 30% off...

@Brisse Looks like it will make an awesome bowl, but personally I'm gonna need a *lot* more experience with my coring rig before I spend that much on a bowl blank!
@Brisse It's actually Rockler that just opened here. Neither they nor Woodcraft have the large blanks I see people on YouTube getting. I made the field trip to Hickory but Klingspor didn't have any either. I can get small-to-medium blanks there but not the big 16" rounds. So far only source for those are random found/gifted logs.
@tdotrob Ohh π My mistake. So many damn woodworker shops around. Woodcraft had/has? a store down near there already I think that's why it came to mind.
West Penn Hardwoods in Conover, NC is the place the guy down the street uses. I don't know what size blanks they carry but he has a much much larger lathe than me.
@Brisse Thanks for the tip! I have their web site bookmarked but have yet to make the trip. I'll bump them up in the queue. :-)
@tdotrob I make no promises that they have what you're looking for. I'm not a bowl turner after all.
@Brisse No worries. These field trips are mini-adventures. It's about the quest so marking a place off the list is a success.
@tdotrob If all else fails the cookwoods site that started this conversation has that size, and they're all 30% off right now. ππππ
@Brisse I'm looking hard at the Redwood Burl blank for only $937! I'll post the GoFundMe link shortly. π
@tdotrob See, I'm in NC and there's a good hardwood supplier the guy down the street from me talks about all the time, but I don't feel like driving to it ever, and I only do so many bowls because I'm barely set up for it, so it's easier for me to just buy blanks when we visit our Florida home. Klingspor's is also really good in Hickory NC, but I'm never out that way.
Woodcraft just opened a store in Charlotte I'm wondering what they have for wood.
