Phew, I've been on a blocking spree on Threads.
There is neither shame nor pride in blocking folks -- I'm just saying this as a public reminder to myself to curate my attention.
@TrueBloodNet I love this! It's a solid platform, but the twits are out in force right now.
@sumpnlikefaith I decided not to try to get a gazillion followers there. It's a lot of work and I'd likely have to change my name to something more current. Plus, I'm a moderately reasonable person so.. that doesn't stir the masses :)
Thus, I curate to enjoy and never ever push the For You button. LOL
GL
@TrueBloodNet Oof. All "For you" buttons need to die a quick death. I'm not even wishing any kind of suffering upon them.
Not because they don't deserve it -- I just don't want to add any unnecessary delay!
I mean, I don't know, vaporised by lightning, or dematerialised by a freak particle emission from a passing black hole. I'm not really fussy about how...
@sumpnlikefaith Personally, I wouldn't touch threads with *someone else's* bargepole 😜🤣
@stueytheround Ha ha! Fair!
@sumpnlikefaith The numbers begging for a block has gone through the roof on other platforms.
@FrankCannon The "I post total balderdash with absolute confidence, and I have 27 followers!" people just need to take a breather.
Have a snack?
Maybe do some stretches?
@sumpnlikefaith Most of them are paid trolls or bandwangon jumpers trying to curry favour with the loudest voices promoting the new shittiest take on "fill in the blank here." That kind are the lowest of the low because they're echoing shite simply to strive for popularity.At least the trolls and bots get paid for being twats.
@FrankCannon You said a mouthful there, and I agree with you about the broad strokes.
However some of these accounts belong to actual human beings, and these are intentional life choices they're making.
It's...strange!
@sumpnlikefaith The real accounts are the most disturbing of all,right with you there.
@sumpnlikefaith The likes of Cambridge Analytica showed just how easy it is to influence a lot of people who believe "x" and steer them in the direction of people spouting "x2" to reinforce their beliefs. And people are still falling for it,there's still entities out there being paid a fortune to subvert people's thinking.Social engineering and very close to thought control on an industrial scale.The sad, depressing thing about it is that it works.
@sumpnlikefaith I curate my threads like a rabid wolverine. I get a 'little' news and a whole lot of animal pics/vids/stories LOL
