As I try to process all the jostling ideas of whatever could be -- and should be -- I think the truest statement I can make is: there are always costs beyond the costs.
That's not an excuse for inaction, or a reason to accept status quo. Rather it means that when we decide, we're *really* deciding.

(I know, it was originally about marketing grifts)
But everything costs something. Even not doing anything. Everything costs some sort of resource. Energy, material, time, attention.
We are told that things just cost money or are free. This is a lie. Everything costs something other than money, and nothing is free.
What we can do is make the most of what we expend. Make better choices. Fight entropy.
