Yesterday marked 80 years since the first air raids of The Blitz in WW2.
Being somewhat unique in having Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army AND Royal Airforce based here, Plymouth was heavily hit as a strategic target.
Charles Church was damaged beyond repair and now stands as a permanent memorial to those who lost their lives in the bombings.

The sun setting behind the church this evening made for these images.

The Messenger is situated outside of Plymouth's largest theatre.
Taller than a double decker bus, she is the UK's largest bronze statue. She arrived a few weeks ago, but I've been waiting for a really wet day to get the shots I wanted.
