Apparently I am not on the Sandman's dance card tonight. It's rapidly approaching 5am and I'm as awake as can be, trying very hard to be quiet enough that Ele can still sleep!
I *really* dislike insomnia.
Mine's physical. I don't get the whirring, unstoppable thoughts. My body just refuses to turn out the lights. Even muscular relaxation techniques leave me chilled out but awake.
Might have a coffee 🤣🤣 #CaffeineClub
@singlemaltgirl I will. Thanks. I suspect mine's to do with ADHD but I'm still waiting on a diagnosis.
@stueytheround insomnia hits me at times too
@Horrrflmlvr It's so frustrating!
@stueytheround that it is
@stueytheround It's the worst, can be very debilitating and take a toll after some time (talking by experience, wish you it could be temporary)
@stueytheround Ugh!
@BillieBun @stueytheround I'm sorry. Insomnia is miserable. I have become increasingly biphasic in the last few years, and have to remember to allow for that by going to sleep earlier.
@Notokay @stueytheround I have multiple sleeps myself.Not all the time, but almost. Interesting to know others do it too.
@BillieBun @stueytheround Polyphasic sleep is evidently the norm for most mammals. Biphasic sleep for humans is now well attested in medieval documents. And difficulty sleeping is apparently true for up to 50% of postmenopausal women.
@Notokay @stueytheround Well, I'm well into that last category, so....
@stueytheround i'm sorry. i've been an insomniac for a long long time. since my teens. altho, menopause has done something where i need more sleep all of a sudden. so i'm actually sleeping more than 5 hrs a night.
mine is the whirring mind. but i think there's also the physical, my body just doesn't work on this rhythm. i remember when i used to go to japan & it was just right the time zone for me to sleep. never had jet lag on this trips.
i hope you're able to close your eyes, some.
