Ok so, TERMINATOR 2. wtf
so, in the time continuum, this war happens between the machines and people, and the machine send one back in time to kill Sarah Connor, who doesn’t die but T1 dies and pieces of the original Terminator stay behind - they fall into the hands of a tech company, cyber… Tech? Cyber whatever.
So BASED ON THE PARTS LEFT OVER BY THE TERMINATOR - that company develops a computer processing chip that later gets put into the machines that then revolt against the people.
SO IF THE TERMINATOR NEVER WENT BACK IN TIME TO KILL SARAH
THEIR PARTS NEVER WOULD’VE BEEN LEFT BEHIND AND their creation would never happen.
So if the Terminator 2 that adult John Connors sent back in time, to save his younger self, instead, sent it back to the terminator 1 1980’s timeframe to just kill the first Terminator, and then take all of its parts and melt it ALL DOWN - that would’ve been a much more efficient way to stop the war.
🥴

If the chip was destroyed at the end of T2 in a time *before* the machines took over, how did the machines take over?
Oh hm maybe they were trying to explain the conundrum of the timeline (I don’t know what dark fate is tbh lol) @InvaderGzim @stueytheround @AskTheDevil
Ok yes, this! @stueytheround @AskTheDevil
@stueytheround @Armchaircouch Because the same minds that were going to invent the chip in the first place invented it, sent one of the chips back in time, the chip got left and used to make similar machines.
But - John and Sarah set out to destroy anything that would lead to the creation of this chip.
Are you proposing that they destroyed the wrong stuff? lol @AskTheDevil @stueytheround
@Armchaircouch @stueytheround Yes. Which would be difficult, because it's clearly technology that can be invented, or it wouldn't have been in the first timeline, whichever that was.
I'm afraid John and Sarah will have to bomb humans back to the stone age.
@stueytheround @Armchaircouch Because the chip was never necessary for inventing the chip. It was invented. Just like things in the real world. The chip wasn't important. The people inventing the tech in the first place were who needed to be stopped.
they did stop him, he died, Miles Dyson. he was the brain behind it all, i think? @AskTheDevil @stueytheround
@Armchaircouch @stueytheround That's the thing though. There's non such thing as a technology that can only exist because of one scientists. The organization still wanted to make one, the military contractors still wanted it, and the same knowledge they had for the scientist to work with, others could follow up on.
Corporations shield you from more than taxes! : ) They shield you from time-assassins!
ok, wait…
*checks notes*** … *flips next page, checks more notes…**
That’s off script! 📣 Who’s in charge around here?! @AskTheDevil
@stueytheround @AskTheDevil @Armchaircouch
Cyberdyne Industries btw...
And I thought that in Dark Fate they explained that a different company built the AI chip that was used by the military and that caused the military equipped machines to stay the revolt with the new/current Skynet taking over... Not the same as the first?
It's been a long while...🤷🏻♂️
